The RVP crashes the Heart of the Saints

Manchester United took on Premier League new comers, Southampton in the Premier League, as they looked to try and pick up what was suppose to be three easy points from their game.

The match kicked off with United dominating the game early on, but to everyone’s surprise, It was Southampton who scored the first goal of the game.

Striker Rickie Lambert gave Saints a shock lead on 16 minutes but Van Persie replied with a sumptuous volley to level seven minutes later.

Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin put Southampton back in front ten minutes after half time and Van Persie’s penalty gaffe left the south coast club within sight of a monster upset.

But the former Arsenal striker made amends with goals in the 87th and 90th minute to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Sir Alex later insisted £24million Van Persie had vindicated his decision to spend so much to buy him from Arsenal.

The Reds boss said: “Absolutely. He has four goals in two starts and that’s a great statistic. And he’ll get better.”
