Not the Best start to Team GB’s Olympic Campaign

Everybody had thought the worlds fastest bicycle sprinter, Mark Cavendish would win the road race but that’s not the case at all at this years Olympics. The GB Team was assembled around the athlete with the support of Tour De France winner, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Ian Stannard and David Millar. The aim was to set a pace throughout the race and then let Cavendish sprint to the finish line but they had no idea what was in store, until a 30 man group stormed through leaving Team GB for dust!

Alexander Vinokurov of Kazakhstan won the race, receiving the gold medal while Cavendish came at a shocking 29th Place…I didn’t want to believe it at first ….Cavendish himself said ”Great Britain are victims of their superb season after he again had to leave the Olympics without a medal as Kazakh Alexandre Vinokourov won gold.”

With more bad news, but this time its tennis and guess who has lost again? Yes Andy Murray but in the doubles along side his brother at the Wimbledon courts. They started the game off very strong, but the Austrian’s were just too hot to handle for the Team GB Couple.

However, with some good news the women’s football team beat Cameroon’s women a whopping 3-0! They had a nice 2 goal cushion for the majority of the game with goals from Casey Stoney and Jill Scott. Then during the last 10 minutes, Stephanie Houghton scored an absolute screamer!

Hopefully, Team GB can have a better day tomorrow and throughout the rest of the event!
